This publication discusses the Canadian/Ontario Foot Care Association, the founders journey, post graduate education, professional humility and support of our colleagues and clients in our evolving field of medical foot and lower limb healthcare delivered by Reg. PodOrtho Foot Specialists (Reg. Pod. Fs).
PodOrtho Foot Specialists (Pod. Fs.) are nurses and other healthcare providers who have obtained post graduate education and have developed advanced competences to specialize in this evolving and growing field of healthcare. Pod. Fs. provide conservative, non-invasive, non-pharmaceutical treatments utilizing innovative technologies and protocols to meet the needs of the public nationally.
Over the last three decades many nurses and other healthcare providers have acknowledged community public need and lack of an adequate number of qualified healthcare providers to deliver medical foot and lower limb care to meet the needs of our active, aging and growing population. This specialty area of healthcare recognizes the need for more practitioners who have acquired advanced knowledge, skills and practical hands-on training to deliver this care nationally.
This publication has been observed as an insightful perspective of critical thinking foot and lower limb care practitioners who have established successful practices throughout communities across Canada, and have been embraced by their hundreds of thousands of clients across over the past thirty years.
The Canadian Foot Care Association (CFCA)/Ontario Foot Care Association (OFCA) was established in 2014 to support thousands of healthcare practitioners who recognized a significant gap and need to obtain community foot and lower limb care. Many healthcare providers have obtained post graduate continuing education to specialize in this area of care and have successfully opened private community clinics. CFCA/OFCA members utilize there advanced knowledge, skills and core competencies and offer conservative, holistic and allopathic protocols while embracing point of care concepts that meet the evolving needs of the Canadian public.
The CFCA/OFCA is not funded by the government (visive the taxpayer) and is fully funded by members and supporters who have a vested interest in the betterment of community medical foot and lower limb health of the Canadian population from an organic perspective.
When I was a little girl and I was sad or feeling displaced my mom would always tell me your not sad or confused your just “in the wrong play”.
When I found a career in nursing I truly believed It was my calling. I enjoyed the notion of being in a profession where I could care for humanity, be a healer and embrace my Christian religious beliefs. I remember on my first day of nursing school we were all given this little white bible. We were “told” to read it. Follow the values within it’s pages. At eighteen years old and a newer and easily influenced soul to the earth those words became literally and figuratively my own bible that set the moral values, standards and ethics I hold to this day in my practice and personal life.
After the “honeymoon” phase of my nursing career reality set in. I transitioned into that sink or swim mentality. I realized “I was in the wrong play”. Presented with the opportunity to be the maker of my own destiny and opening my own clinic (unheard of for “just a nurse”), to establish a happy enjoyable workplace nourished my soul and my patients who came to my clinic to receive my care. Twenty five years later, I still question “how did I get so lucky” to genuinely love my job!
How did I make a positive rewarding career change?
Realizing you don’t need to live your life from a belief of approval that challenges your own truth. Truth rises without competition and is not “told” to you. It’s learned through experiences and inner morals. I began listening to my inner shift that lead me to a happier career. Once making this mental shift I became less controlled by distraction, and embraced a positive thought process “to be the CEO of my own mind”. I realized the expectations of my discipline no longer mirrored my inner truth. Recognizing authority is not an appointment or determined by official qualifications is transformational. Authority is genuinely established through developing your own confidence, discipline, leadership, gratitude and enjoyment in your chosen career.
Through my own discovery I realized my happiness came from Igniting my creative fire which was becoming a PodOrtho Foot Specialist, healthcare entrepreneur, educator and published author. Over many years my nurse colleagues approached me asking me to teach them how to do what I was doing. Organically I transitioned into educating my collogues and showing them how they can build a successful rewarding career while helping their own communities flourish.
My Christmas wish for my valued colleagues, students, our CFCA members and even those who seek to tear others down is to remember we are all on this planet together. God has given all of us an opportunity to live a fulfilling peaceful life. Know your worth, your value without needing the approval of those who do not understand what you have accomplished or resonate with your mission. No title, diploma or degree compares to your knowledge, experience, maturity, desire and discipline.
We are all created equal by our god in his or her infinite wisdom to contribute to a higher power for the greatest good of humanity.
